Dear Jasmine,
Since you are plannint to build a new house, it would be crucial not to pay any attention to the Shapes and Forms of the house.
In fact, when one build a new home, there are many Feng Shui considerations, not just based on Eight House.
In many situations, it is good to have the main door face a good direction. Even if the door does not face a good direction, based on the layout, it can (in some instances) still be tilted to a good direction.
It is prudent therefore, that one should not entirely base the layout planning on just the Eight House Theory.
Internally, each room should preferably be as rectangular as possible.
Other important considerations include where the location of the toilet(s) are. The staircase (for double storey) houses etc...
